The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) on Wednesday assured that there is a sufficient supply of onions in the country amid the rising onion prices in the market.
According to Roxas, despite sufficient onion supply, the market price for red onions is reaching as high as ₱160 to ₱200 per kilo and local white onions range ₱150 to ₱200 per kg.
He said they are now working closely with the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) to look if there is price manipulation in the marketplace.
Meanwhile, Roxas bared that they are studying the imposition of suggested retail prices (SRP) for red and white onions.
