Senator Bong Go has formally withdrawn his certificate of candidacy from the presidential race in the 2022 elections on Tuesday, December 14.

Go personally went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Intramuros to file his withdrawal.

“As a matter of principle, wala na po ako sa karerang ito sa pagtakbo bilang pangulo ngayong 2022. […, I am no longer in this race in becoming president this 2022],” Go told reporters.

“Nakapagsalita na ako nung November 30, pinaintindi ko lang sa supporters ko na nagre-resist ang aking puso, isipan sa pagtakbo [I’ve already spoken on November 30, I want my supporters to understand that my heart and mind are against this candidacy],” Go added

Go noted that he is a man of his word and whatever he says he will fulfill.

On November 30, Senator Go announced that he is dropping his presidential bid in the upcoming elections, stating that his body has been contradicting his actions and that initially, his family already refused his candidacy.

Go said that he made up a decision a long time ago and is just looking for the right time to file his withdrawal.

In a report from RH Boy Gonzales, he was seen riding a taxi to the Comelec alone. He said that he just gave his supporters enough time to accept his decision of withdrawing.

Go also asked for his supporters’ understanding and forgiveness and that he will still be here to serve the people the best he can.
