Senator Christopher Lawrence 'Bong' Go filed a measure on Wednesday seeking the establishment of a comprehensive framework for the infrastructure flagship programs and projects of the national government.
Go said filing Senate Bill No. 2114 was his way to support President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on his commitment to carry on the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” project.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos. I am happy that President Bongbong Marcos is committed to implement more infrastructure projects through the ‘Build Better More’ program lalo na yung mag-promote ng interconnectivity sa ating bansa,” Go said.
“Kung mas mabilis ang daloy ng mga tao, ng mga serbisyo at produkto, mas uunlad po ang ating ekonomiya. Infra projects are also leading generators of jobs, lalo na dahil maraming mga kababayan natin ang nawalan ng trabaho at hanapbuhay noong pandemya,” he added.
Under the proposed SB 2114, the Senator pointed out that the country’s infrastructure development “plays a crucial role in the economy of the Philippines by helping create an environment that supports sustainable economic growth and development."
If passed into law, SBN 2114 mandates the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to collaborate with other government agencies to develop a comprehensive infrastructure flagship program and development plan “that will provide the road map to facilitate the implementation of the Flagship Programs and Projects.”
The said plan is targeted to be implemented in four phases, with six years each.
