Senator Christopher Lawrence 'Bong' Go on Saturday filed his certificate of candidacy for vice president in the 2022 national elections.
Go arrived and registered his candidacy at about 3:25 PM at the Harbor Garden Tent at Sofitel hotel in Pasay City accompanied by President Rodrigo Duterte. He will be running under the party of PDP-Laban.

In a speech at the event, Go said he decided to run for the vice president after Duterte, who was initially endorsed by the party, withdrew his acceptance. This was not made public until Go's filing today.
Before serving as a senator in 2019, Go was a special assistant to Duterte with jurisdiction over the Presidential Management Staff (PMS). He was also the longtime aide of the President when he was still mayor in Davao City.
Go previously declined calls for him to run for the presidency, saying he is not interested in it.
