PBA team Meralco Bolts barged into the winning column of the 2023-2024 season of the East Asia Super League.

The Bolts snagged a 97-88 overtime win against the reigning Japan B.League champions Ryukyu Golden Kings on Wednesday, December 13, in Macau.

Zach Lofton scored 35 points and Chris Newsome added 27 points for the first win of Meralco after three outings in the inter-country tournament.

Newsome completed the four-point play that tied the score to 80-all and forced the game to the extra period.

A three-point basket by Ryuichi Kishimoto allowed the Kings to take the lead at the start of the overtime period.

However, Meralco turned things around after a basket by Lofton sparked a 12 point-run of the Filipinos, and put them up by nine points, 92-83.

Vic Law finished with 27 points and Keita Imamura registered 19 points as the Ryukyu tasted the first loss of the team in the season.
