The search and rescue team has located and recovered the body of the fisherfolk who went missing on the island of Boracay last Holy Wednesday.
According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the team found 64-year-old Ernesto Coching’s body near Sitio Airport, Barangay Caticlan, Aklan before noon on Saturday.
Interior Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos led the search operations along with volunteer professional divers, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Malay, Aklan Police.
On Holy Wednesday, the motorized fishing boat that Conching and his fellow fisherfolk Ricky Valencia were riding clashed with a speedboat owned by a five-star Shangri-la and Spa Resort in Boracay Island and sank near Cagban Jetty port.
Coaching went missing after the incident while Valencia survived and was rushed to the nearest provincial hospital.
