An overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was held off by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the airport due to the airplane toy she brought home as pasalubong from Hongkong.
In a Facebook post, OFW Rachell Anne Ramos narrated that BI personnel insisted to check the toy despite it has already passed through an x-ray machine and was sniffed by the airport dogs, two times already.
"Hayyyy PILIPINAS!!! [K]elan ka uunlad??? Galing ng Hongkong yan kung may nakita man n[a] kakaiba or something inside the plane, sana dun pa lang nahold n[a] ako," she exclaimed.
Ramos said she insisted to break the toy due to her fear of getting delayed on her connecting flight.
After BI personnel broke the toy plane with a hammer, mere cement was found inside.
"[Y]ung after nila mafind out n[a parang espalto ang laman, todo sorry na sila. [P]asalamat nga sila [hin]d[i] ko n[a] pinabayaran eh. [M]ay awa pa naman ako kahit konti l[a]ng," she said.
Ramos expressed disappointment at the BOC staffs, saying that this is her first time returning home after four years and this incident welcomed her.
As of writing, BOC has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
