The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s report on the flood control anomaly will move forward for plenary sponsorship, regardless of whether Senate Minority members sign it, Senate President Pro-Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced.
Lacson, who also chairs the committee, confirmed that the final report has already been circulated to Minority members.
Lacson explained that once the report secures 11 signatures from the Majority bloc, it will be submitted to the Bills and Index Office and placed on the calendar of business. From there, it will be formally reported and sponsored in the plenary for debate and possible amendments.
Earlier, Senator Robin Padilla stated that the Minority bloc would not sign the committee report, following instructions from Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano. The minority intends to pursue its own report, citing differences in findings and recommendations.
As of now, there is no confirmation on how many senators have signed the committee report, which recommends investigating certain senators in connection with the flood control project anomalies.
Lacson emphasized that the legislative process will continue and that the plenary will have the opportunity to debate and amend the report.
