The Philippines won the bronze medal in the 2023 Men's Softball Asia Cup after defeating Hong Kong, 7-0, on Wednesday, June 28, in Kochi, Japan.
The third place-finish of the Blu Boys allowed the Philippines to secure a spot in the 2025 Men's Softball World Cup in Canada.
Prior to the bronze medal match, the Filipinos snagged victories against India (5-1), Chinese Taipei (7-1), and Hong Kong (8-0) in the preliminary round.
However, the Philippines also suffered losses at the hands of Singapore (9-5), and Japan (6-0).
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier congratulated the Blu Boys for their podium finish in the 2023 Men's Softball Asia Cup.
Lhuillier also praised the squad for earning a spot in the World Cup.
"Let your passion continue to ignite the field as you inspire and make our nation proud," the ASAPHIL president said in a statement.
