South Korean label YG Entertainment has confirmed that BLACKPINK members did not renew their individual contracts.
In a statement translated by Korean media outlet Soompi, YG Entertainment said that Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa decided to renew their group contract only.
“Hello, this is YG Entertainment. YG recently signed an extension contract for BLACKPINK's group activities, and agreed not to proceed with a separate additional contract for individual activities,” the music label said.
It vowed to extend its support for BLACKPINK's activities and the members' solo activities with “warm hearts.”
YG Entertainment did not disclose the members’ reasons for not renewing their solo contracts.
The news came after Jennie announced that she had established a music label and company called “ODD ATELIER" or OA where she would start her solo journey in 2024.
“Hi, this is Jennie. This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, BLACKPINK,” she said in an Instagram post.
Jennie also unveiled her company’s logo and her new photos as the music label and company’s founder.
