After the hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional "Traslacion," or procession of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo Church will be returning in January 2024.
As reported by Boy Gonzales in MBC Network News, the Manila Police District (MPD) said they will now be using bulletproof to cover the sculpture.
This means no more Hijos del Nazarenos will be seen enshrined or surrounded by the andas as the image is covered with bullet-proof glass.
The traditional kissing of the image will start on January 6 and last until January 9, or the feast day of the Holy Black Nazarene.
Meanwhile, the replica blessing or the blessing of the images will be performed on January 3 and 4.
MPD, leaders of Quiapo Church, and other stakeholders carried out a meeting to prepare for the security of the people attending the traditional procession.
