The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has temporarily closed down a Chinese restaurant in Makati City and its four branches in Paranaque and Taguig as part of their "Oplan Kandado" operation.
Led by Atty. Zeus Gamaliel Mendoza, Chief of the Regional Investigation Division, and Atty. Jesse Alcaraz, Assistant Division Chief, the BIR agency shut down Shanzhen Haiwei Food Corp.
The affected branches include those located on Gil Puyat Ave and Legazpi in Makati, Macapagal in Paranaque, and Bonifacio High Street and 7th Street in Taguig.
The closure was due to violations of Section 115 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
According to the BIR Makati, based on the surveillance conducted by the Regional Investigation Division in February, it was discovered that the Chinese restaurant failed to register one of its branches.
Furthermore, the restaurant failed to issue receipts or invoices and underreported its sales by more than 30%.
In relation to this, the BIR gave the said restaurant 48 hours to explain and rectify the observed violations.
