The Biñan City Police Station (CPS) nabbed one of the suspects behind the killing of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig in February this year.
In a press release posted on its Facebook page, Biñan CPS said its operatives arrested the suspect identified as Lester John Sus De Lara, 22, after serving a warrant of arrest (WOA) inside his home at Metroville Complex Brgy. San Francisco, Binan City, Laguna last July 13.
“This station conducted service of WOA against the accused by virtue of WOA Issued by Hon. Armin Noel B Villamonte, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 155,” it said.
De Lara is said to be part of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity that conducted hazing, leading to the death of Salilig.
He and 10 other fraternity members are facing a violation of the Republic Act. No. 8049 as amended by RA No.11503 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.
In April, seven frat members pleaded not guilty to the crime before the Biñan, Laguna Court.
The Cavite police found the remains of Salilig buried at a vacant lot in a subdivision in Malagasang, Imus, Cavite on February 28.
The third-year chemical engineering student was found dead a week after he attended Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity's welcoming rites.
