Motorists can expect a big-time rollback in fuel prices on Holy Tuesday, according to the Department of Energy (DOE).

DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the following price rollbacks are likely:

• Gasoline: ₱3.30 to ₱3.75 per liter
• Diesel: ₱2.90 to ₱3.40 per liter
• Kerosene: ₱3.40 to ₱3.50 per liter

Romero explained that the expected price cuts are due to easing trade tensions between the United States and China, which raised fears of a recession and lowered global demand for crude oil.

The expected drop in Saudi Arabia’s official selling price for Asia in May and the upcoming increase in production by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) are also factors.
