A military operation resulted to the death of a suspected leader of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, and 11 members of the militant group.
The 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army reported the death of Mohiden Animbang alias Karialan, Chairperson ng BIFF-Karialan Faction during an operation on Monday, April 22, in Brgy. Kitango, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.
The operation also resulted to the death of Saga Animbang, operation chief ng BIFF-Karialan Faction, and the brother of Mohiden.
Brig. Gen. Jose Vladimir Cagara, commander ng 1st Brigade Combat Team, said that government forces also retrieved 12 high-powered firearms, including five M16A1 rifles, three M14 rifles, two M653 rifles, and an M14 rifle.
Major General Alex Rillera, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, confirmed that seven soldiers suffered injuries during the military operation.
"Aking binabati ang ating mga tropa sa 1BCT at iba pang mga operating units, bagaman at may pito tayong mga kasundaluhan na nasugatan sa labang ito, ating kinikilala ang kanilang kabayanihan sa pagtatanggol sa bayan," Rillera said.
"Isang napakalaking tagumpay ang ating nagawa sa pagbura ng BIFF-KF sa hanay ng mga teroristang pangkat," he added.
