The Bicol University (BU) Board of Regents has named Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin Nebres III as the institution’s 9th president.
He was elected during the board meeting at the Commission on Higher Education in Diliman, Quezon City.
"It is with honor that we introduce our 9th Bicol University President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres, III! May you lead Bicol University towards a bright, prosperous, and promising future," Bicol University announced on social media.
Nebres will replace the former president Arnulfo Mascariñas as he ends his term on March 8.
The board considered other candidates including Vice President for Administration and Finance Lawyer Joseph Bartolata, Administrator of the Center for Technology Commercialization and Enterprise Development Arnulfo Malinis, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Lawyer Alex Nepomuceno, and Dean of the College of Medicine Dr. Ofelia Samay-Sy.
The new president received his sociology degree in 1997 and a doctor of education degree in 2008 at Bicol University.
