Television host and actress Bianca Gonzales-Intal took to social media to share how proud she is of her morena skin.
In a Facebook post, Bianca said she loved and still loves her skin color despite she was bullied during the time when fair skin was the accepted beauty standard.
“[I]n a media landscape of mostly light-skinned women, it was Tweetie de Leon and Angel Aquino that showed me that maitim is beautiful too,” she recounted.
The 40-year-old TV host said all young girls should kept in mind that “Hindi kailangan maging maputi para maging maganda.”
Bianca is the cover star of Mega Magazine for the month of May.
The May 2023 issue centers on wellness in partnership with the global mega-brand Cetaphil.
Bianca then expressed how she felt honored that Cetaphil came out to support her magazine cover.
“It shows how you continuously want to expand beauty standards in the Philippines and emphasize the message that dark skin is beautiful too. Thank you Abe Mationg and the whole Cetaphil team,” she said.
Bianca has been vocal about how proud she is of her morena skin.
In 2019, she called out a skin whitening brand for its controversial advertisement that discriminates against girls with darker skin.
The TV host also once expressed how she is saddened when celebrities, born with naturally brown skin, choose to endorse whitening products.
