The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport a Chinese national wanted since last year for posing himself as a Filipino.
In a statement on Monday, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco disclosed Tai Fang Ching, 60 years old, was arrested by agents from the BI Intelligence Division who were equipped with a warrant of deportation along F.B. Harrison Street in Ermita, Manila last May 16.
“Aliens who flaunt and make a mockery of our immigration and citizenship laws do not deserve the privilege to stay here. They should be expelled and banned from re-entering the country,” Tansingco emphasized.
The Immigration Department ordered Tai’s deportation after an investigation revealed that he assumed the name of a Filipino resident Albert Torres Abaya when he filed the incorporation papers of his business with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
He also used the same fictitious name in acquiring a driver’s license from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and in registering his business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as well as other public documents.
Tai will be added to the BI’s blacklist to permanently ban him from re-entering the Philippines.
As of this writing, the Chinese national is detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City while his deportation to China is pending.
