The Bureau of Immigration (BI) seeks to deport more Japanese detainees back to their home country.
"Definitely, there will be more deportation of Japanese nationals," said BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval on Friday, February 10, during DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
Sandoval made the remark after the Philippines deported four Japanese nationals in order to face criminal charges in Japan.
The four Japanese nationals, Tomonobu Saito, Yuki Watanabe, Toshiya Fujita, and Kiyoto Imamura have been linked to a series of robberies in Japan, which resulted in the death of a senior citizen.
Sandoval said that 14 Japanese nationals remain locked up in detention facilities in the Philippines.
However, Sandoval assured that these Japanese nationals have no relation to the robberies allegedly masterminded by Watanabe, who used the alias 'Luffy' while detained in the Philippines.
