The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reminded certain travelers that they must present additional documentary requirements before being cleared for departure.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco advised foreign visitors who had been in the country for more than six months to get emigration clearance certificates from any of the BI's district, field, satellite, and extension offices around the country.

Registered foreigners with ACR I-Cards were also reminded that they can get their re-entry permits from other BI offices or the BI NAIA one-stop-shop before their flight.

Securing these requirements early "will decrease queueing time in half, because they will not have to fall in line in the separate counter for immigration cashiers," Tansingco added.

Meanwhile, Filipino government officials and workers must obtain permission from their respective department heads to go overseas.

Parents of unaccompanied minors must ensure that their children obtain the necessary approval from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) before flying.

To prevent airport congestion, the BI also advised international tourists to check in at least three hours before their trip and move directly to the immigration department for processing.

The BI previously stated that it will deploy 155 more immigration officers to guarantee that all counters are properly staffed to serve to arrive and leave travelers.
