The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Monday that its agents intercepted two Chinese nationals, who were on its wanted list for violating the Philippine penal and immigration laws, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
In a press release on Monday, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that the two foreigners were arrested in different instances.
One foreigner identified as Cai Xiaming, 43 years old, was arrested after immigration officers found that he was on the BI's list of persons with court-issued Hearing Designation Order (HDO). Xiaming's HDO was reportedly issued by a Pangasinan regional court in September 2019 after being criminally charged with tax evasion.
The second Chinese national named Wang Zili, 27 years old, was arrested when he was about to depart to Shanghai, China. He was previously placed on BI’s watchlist due to his involvement in economic crimes in China.
As of this writing, both Cai and Wang are detained at the BI's Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
