On Thursday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted two Filipino suspected victims of human trafficking at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), who are said to be going to Bangkok, Thailand, posing as tourists.
However, the two did not provide proper documents, claiming that they were employed here and failing to explain their travel itinerary for their Thailand trip.
When the authority further asked them, it was found that the two were actually on their way to Cambodia, and they were told to wait in Bangkok for their other documents.
The victims said that they were promised by a yet unknown agency monthly payments of more than P40,000 for their services as encoders in Cambodia.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco applauded the immigration officers for their vigilance in checking the documents that were able to save the victims.
