The Bureau of Immigration (BI) handed over one of the leaders of the Japanese syndicate known as 'Luffy' to Japanese authorities today, November 19, to proceed with deportation.
RH Sherwin Alfaro reported that the Japanese embassy and police issued an arrest warrant against the suspect, who is also said to serve as the financial leader of the JP Dragon group operating in the Philippines.
Furthermore, the apprehended Japanese national is also believed to serve as the financial link for the 'Luffy' group in both the Philippines and Japan.
Reports indicate that the said syndicate leader has been contacting infamous groups involved in criminal operations, such as preying on the elderly and vulnerable sectors in Japan for financial extortion.
Two other Japanese nationals facing minor charges were to be deported alongside the syndicate leader.
The turnover took place at the NAIA Terminal 1 lounge, where the individual was waiting for their scheduled departure this morning.
