

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported on Tuesday, March 26, two Japanese nationals allegedly involved in the infamous string of robberies in Japan.
In a press release, BI said Sugano Kazushi and Shimoeda Saito, believed to be 'Luffy' gang members and tagged as fugitives from justice, were sent back to Tokyo via Japan Airlines flight.
"The two have been hiding in the Philippines since 2019. A manhunt was conducted against them and their cohorts after receiving official communication from the Japanese government on February 2023 informing of their criminal status," the bureau said.
Kazushi and Saito repotedly have standing arrest warrants issued by the Tokyo Summary Court.

In February last year, the immigration bureau deported four suspects believed part of the Luffy case.
They were identified as Toshiya Fujita, Kiyoto Imamura, Tomonobu Saito, and Yuki Watanabe, the alleged mastermind known by his alias "Luffy."
The Luffy gang is suspected responsible for more than 50 crime incidents that began in the summer of 2021 in Japan.
