The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has deployed over 40 additional immigration officers and acting officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in anticipation of the expected surge in international passengers.
"We have fielded a total of 48 immigration frontliners at NAIA alone to ensure that all immigration counters are fully manned during peak arrival and departure hours,” BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated.
“This is part of our commitment to deliver swift and seamless service to the traveling public," he added.
He stated that immigration personnel from other Metro Manila offices have been brought in to help manage the expected influx of travelers during the long weekend.
Under the new directive issued by Viado, all entry-level and acting immigration officers are now required to perform rotational duties at the airport.
The BI Commissioner also assured the public that frontliners are under strict orders to maintain efficiency, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.
"This operational surge is aligned with the President’s call for improved government services, especially in high-traffic areas such as our airports," he added.
He then reminded the public that passengers are still advised to arrive at the airport early during the holidays due to the expected surge in travelers.
“We urge the public to be at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight to allow ample time for immigration and security checks,” said Viado.
According to the BI, daily passenger volume is projected to reach approximately 50,000 during the peak travel period.
