The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Monday that it successfully denied entry into the Philippines to two American nationals who are registered sex offenders (RSO) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The two nationals, identified as Donell English and Brandon Todd Killen, were denied entry on separate occasions on June 6 and June 8.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco showed appreciation to the Immigration personnel, who were stationed at the international airports, for being vigilant.
“Our IOS will expeditiously process the arrival and departure but at the same time check the purpose of the travel,” he said.
Tansingco stressed the importance of thorough screening of passengers, saying that this is crucial in defending the country against threats of terrorism, human trafficking, and transnational crimes.
According to the BI chief, BI's decision to deny entry to American nationals reflects the national government’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of security and morality.
From January to May this year, the agency has prevented a total of 75 RSOs from entering the country.
