The Bureau of Immigration (BI) lauded its employee on Tuesday, Oct. 17, for returning wads of money and jewelry owned by a passenger who misplaced her bag following immigration proceedings.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said he recently knew of the incident in August wherein the BI Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU) employee Lino Hijada returned an unattended bag with a total of P80,000 inside, together with jewelry and technological devices.
Tansingco commended Hijada for setting an example of professionalism among the BI employees.
“As government employees, we are expected to perform our duties with integrity and professionalism,” Tansingco said in a statement.
“We hope this serves as a good example to our personnel, and remind them that the Bureau is still made up with many good men and women who remain honest in their work,” he added.
