Senators asserted that officials from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) must clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported departure of dismissed Mayor Alice Guo from the Philippines.
Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada emphasized that the Bureau of Immigration assured them several times during the latest hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality that Guo was still in the country.
This was supported by Senators Grace Poe, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Raffy Tulfo, who plans to summon the CAAP for a Senate investigation.
They mentioned that there should be a master list of all airplanes arriving in and departing from the country, this is due to the belief that Mayor Guo took a chartered flight to Malaysia.
Futhermore, Senator Loren Legarda views the case of Mayor Guo as a national security concern, given that it has been revealed that she is a Chinese national who became a mayor and managed to leave the country under the belief that she was assisted by certain government officials and law enforcement officers.
Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed on Monday that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has fled the country since July 18 and that Guo also flew to Singapore to meet with her parents.
According to Senator Hontiveros's disclosure, the mayor met with her siblings and Cassandra Ong upon arrival in Singapore.
