The Bureau of Immigration nabbed a Chinese fugitive linked to financial crimes at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on February 21.

In a statement released by the BI on Monday, the Chinese fugitive, identified as Liu Jiangtao, aged 46, from Vanuatu, was being hunted by the Chinese authorities for a string of criminal offenses, including economic crimes.

Liu was about to board a flight to Singapore when he was caught by the BI agents at NAIA Terminal 3, which also prompted a hit on the agency’s list of aliens with outstanding watchlist orders.

Based on the records, Liu is one of the 11 Chinese nationals who are on the wanted list due to several felonies involving fraud, infringement of credit card management, capital embezzlement, money laundering, and counterfeiting a registered trademark.

Meanwhile, BCIU overall deputy chief Joseph Cueto mentioned in a statement that the Chinese national was stopped from leaving the country after his alleged crimes were discovered and was brought to the detention facility in Taguig City.
