An American national, who went viral on social media for berating and physically assaulting a delivery rider in Cebu City, has been arrested, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday.
In a press release, BI said their Intelligence Division arrested Phillip Justin Bean, 43, inside his hotel room in Barangay Day-as, Zapatera, Cebu City.
It said that records showed that Bean's extension of stay in the country expired last April 7, 2022, thus he has been overstaying for almost a year.
“He has no right to verbally and physically abuse a Filipino. His actions show that he is abusing the hospitality of our country. He should be deported for being an undesirable alien,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco underlined.
He said that they also found that the US citizen has been illegally working alien for he previously worked as a duty manager in a bar in Cebu.
According to Tansingco, Bean is now under the agency's blacklist.
