The Bureau of Immigration (BI) stated on Tuesday that two foreigners, an American and an Indian, were arrested on different dates in Cebu City and Pasay City for violating Philippine immigration regulations.

The suspects were identified as 48-year-old US national Barry Lee Jordan and 33-year-old Indian national Harwinder Singh, who were apprehended by BI intelligence division operatives in Carcar City, Cebu, and at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, respectively.

Both are currently held at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, awaiting deportation.

According to BI intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan Jr., the American was apprehended on April 28 at his partner's apartment in Carcar City's Barangay Upper Buenavista.

Jordan had been overstaying in the country for more than seven years, or since December 27, 2015, when he last arrived as a tourist, according to members of the BI's regional intelligence operations unit stationed in Cebu.

When confronted by the arresting team, the foreigner was unable to produce any travel documents, and he would be deported for being an unauthorized alien.

He was additionally charged with desirability since he was seen as a threat to his community.

Jordan threatened a bartender with a knife in a video that went viral on YouTube.

Manahan, on the other hand, said that on April 25, elements of the BI's border control and intelligence group (BCIU) at the NAIA apprehended and arrested Singh, who was found with a bogus entry visa on his passport.

Singh was ready to board a flight to New Delhi when the immigration officer who processed him questioned the authenticity of the Philippine entrance visa put on his passport.

Meanwhile, the BI's forensic document laboratory determined that the Indian national's visa was counterfeit.
