The Bureau of Immigration (BI) advised international travelers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flights this holiday season to avoid congestion and ensure a smoother travel experience.
“We urge passengers to check in early and proceed directly to immigration for clearance,” BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.
“This will help ensure a more relaxed travel experience and prevent unnecessary delays," he added.
According to Viado, many passengers contribute to congestion by delaying their immigration clearance until the last minute, despite arriving at the airport well in advance.
Despite the reminder to passengers, the agency reassured that it had made extensive preparations to greatly reduce waiting times compared to previous years.
Furthermore, the BI also issued a reminder about extra documentary requirements for specific travelers.
Foreign tourists who have been in the Philippines for more than six months, as well as registered foreigners with ACR I-Cards, should obtain their clearances early at any BI office which notably can reduce their waiting time.
The agency notified the public that the BI's NAIA One-Stop Shop at Terminal 3 operates 24/7 to provide assistance to foreign travelers with immigration requirements in case of emergencies.
Viado assured the public that the BI has stationed enough personnel at NAIA and major airports nationwide to manage the surge in travelers and ensure smooth operations during the Christmas season.
