In response to a multitude of violations, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has revoked the Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (FSIC) previously issued to Gentle Hands Inc., an orphanage located in Project 4, Quezon City.
This comes after the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ordered the closure of Gentle Hands Inc.
Following this, the management of orphanage is now considering filing a temporary restraining order in court.
The revocation order, signed by Quezon City Fire Department's Officer-in-Charge Fire Marshall SSUPT Aristotle Bañaga, renders the FSIC of Gentle Hands Inc. null and void.
According to the BFP, the establishment blatantly violated Republic Act 9514, also known as the Fire Code of the Philippines, specifically by lacking proper safety facilities such as fire exits.
The National Authority for Child Care (NACC) and the DSWD had previously issued a cease and desist order, halting the operations of Gentle Hands Inc., an institution known for caring for orphaned and abandoned children.
It should be noted that over 100 rescued children under the care of Gentle Hands Inc. were transferred by the DSWD to three residential care facilities for children managed by the government.
