The Regional Bureau of Fire Protection reported on Thursday that at least eight forest fires are happening in different parts of the mountainous areas in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
According to Fire Inspector Bernard Bravo, the forest fires on Mount Santo Tomas located in Tuba, Benguet, are among those being monitored and suppressed, and firefighting personnel are having difficulties extinguishing multiple forest fires due to the area's terrain.
Bravo explained that the terrain is inaccessible for the firetrucks, which is the reason that the firetrucks couldn’t enter the fire site and that they were not able to use water from the trucks.
As such, firefighters will need to walk towards the area to manually extinguish the fire.
