The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) launched two search and rescue operations on Wednesday, July 26, in the northern Philippine provinces of Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya, in response to Typhoon Egay's devastating effect.
In a Facebook post, the BFP said that in Solano town in Nueva Vizcaya, three individuals were successfully rescued on Tuesday night after being trapped under their house due to a fallen tree.
"In the aftermath of Typhoon Egay, a successful rescue operation was carried out at Barangay Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. The operation involved rescuing three individuals who were trapped in their house by a fallen tree. The incident occurred last night during the height of the typhoon's impact in the Cagayan Valley region," the post read.
Efforts of the rescue personnel combined with their professional expertise and use of specialized equipment were said to be the reason for the successful extraction of the trapped individuals from the hazardous situation.
Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post, the BFP said that an "active clearing operation is in effect in Burnham Park, Baguio City, and a search and rescue operation is underway in the municipality of Buguias in response to a landslide incident involving a residential building."
“The presence of fallen trees, debris-strewn roads, and damaged structures has impeded mobility, hindering the much-needed flow of essential services and assistance to those in need,” the BFP said.
“The teams involved are making significant strides towards ensuring a speedy recovery for Cordillera Administrative Region, demonstrating the resilience and determination of the community in the face of adversity caused by Typhoon Egay,” it added.
For BFP, the successful rescue operation in Barangay Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya serves as a testament to the dedication and competence of the emergency response teams in safeguarding the lives and well-being of the public during times of crisis.
