TNC's roamer veteran Ben “Benthings” Maglaque was crowned as the Week 6 Razer Gold MPL PH Press Corps Player of The Week after leading his bottom-ranked team to steal a game against the top-seeded Bren Esports.
Before the series, the Season Nine bronze medalists were 1-9 in the standings—two losses away from missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Meanwhile, the former world champion has just won its ninth consecutive game, the longest streak in franchise history, which has helped guarantee its postseason berth.
However, TNC rose from the ashes last Sunday to complete one of the biggest, if not the largest, upsets in Season 11 with a 2-1 victory over the streaking Bren Esports to breathe new life into its dying campaign.
The major upset victory was led by roamer Ben "Benthings" Maglaque, who was chosen the Most Valuable Player in TNC's triumphs in Games 1 and 3. He finished the opener with 10 assists and two deaths on Khufra before adding 10 assists and four deaths in the decider.
"Sobrang halaga yung game na ito, hindi lang para makapunta kami ng playoffs. In preparation din sa mga susunod na season," Benthings said, "Kumbaga, hindi kami nawalan ng pag-asa na makapasok ng playoffs, kaya ginagawa namin yung best namin."
Benthings beat out Bren Esports' two-time Season 11 POW Marco "Super Marco" Requitano, ECHO's Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales and Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya, and Blacklist International's Edward "Edward" Dapadap.
