In her statement, Aldeano explained that her actions on stage—particularly placing her hand near her waist—were meant to protect the structure of her gown, which had no additional support underneath.

She said the gesture allowed her to “professionally and gracefully excuse” the actor’s hand while maintaining composure during the performance.

The clarification came after the moment circulated online, with some viewers pointing out the close physical proximity between the actor and the contestant during the serenade portion of the pageant.

The clip sparked discussions among netizens about personal space and Aldeano’s visible discomfort during the interaction.

Aldeano said she and Monasterio have already communicated privately, adding that the actor personally apologized and assured her he would be more mindful in the future.
