Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said on Monday, November 13, that he respects the decision of the court after it allowed former Senator Leila De Lima to post bail.

"As I've said earlier, I respect the court's decision as I also observe separation of powers. Respetuhin natin kung anong desisyon ng korte," dela rosa said in a press briefing in the senate.

It can be recalled that De Lima became one of the critics of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during his administration, wherein Dela Rosa served as the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Dela Rosa was the one who led the PNP during Duterte's bloopy "war on drugs," which was fought by De Lima, who was a former senator back then.

Under the two-page order issued by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC), the motion for bail has been "granted," noting that within a period of one day, the former Senator should complete the submission of the prosecution's documentary exhibits and the case will be scheduled for November 23, 2023, at 12 o'clock in the afternoon.

According to RH Christian Maño's report, the bail bond is set at P300,000.

Based on Reuters report, de Lima’s legal counsel Filibon Tacardon said De Lima will hopefully be released today.
