Bataan has been placed under state of calamity due to the impact of Super Typhoon Egay and the adverse weather conditions brought about by the strengthened southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm Falcon.

Governor Joet Garcia made this announcement on Saturday night through his official Facebook page.

Under the ratified Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 321, the Bataan local government cited the widespread flooding in low-lying areas and significant damage to both public and private infrastructure, particularly in the agricultural sector.

"Isinailalim sa State of Calamity ang buong lalawigan ng Bataan sa araw na ito, ika-29 ng Hulyo," Garcia announced.

"Sa pamamagitan ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolusyon No. 321, pinagtibay ang pagdedeklara ng State of Calamity dahil sa mga ulat ng pagbaha sa mga mabababang lugar, mga pinsalang tinamo ng iba’t-ibang pampubliko at pribadong imprastraktura at matinding epekto sa kabuhayan lalo na sa sektor ng agrikultura," he added.

Garcia also disclosed that the agricultural sector alone has suffered losses amounting to ₱22,381,052.

As per the latest updates from the Bataan Governor, 639 families, comprising 2,357 individuals, have sought refuge in evacuation sites.

Displaced families have been provided with 527 food packs, 475 hygiene kits, and 55 mats to address their immediate needs.
