Baste Duterte withdraws candidacy for reelection in Davao City

Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian 'Baste' Duterte withdraws his candidacy for reelection on Tuesday.

In a statement, Baste said he nominates Atty. Melchor Quitain Jr. as his substitute for the vice mayoral post in the upcoming national elections.

"I am deeply grateful to the Dabawenyos for the support they have given me all this time. I have no other details to share at the moment," the presidential son stated.

Earlier reports stated that Baste made the move upon the advice of his sister Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

On October 3, Baste filed his certificate of candidacy for reelection in the upcoming polls.
