A barangay chairman was shot dead outside his home in San Jose Libon, Albay, a few hours after he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Monday, August 28.

According to Libon Municipal Police Station report, the victim was identified as Alex Repato, 51, who returned to his home after filing his COC.

Repato was about to enter his house when the assailant, who was riding a motorcycle, repeatedly shot him at around 4:00 p.m.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation regarding the identity of the suspect.
