Landbank of the Philippines and Metrobank issued ‘non-existent’ certifications to refute the allegations of large bank deposits made in COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia’s accounts.
The certifications are released following the request of the COMELEC Chair in order to affirm the public of the accounts' nonexistence.
The Intramuros branch of the Land Bank of the Philippines mentioned on the certification that the alleged Personal Savings Account under the name of Garcia is nonexistent.
Metrobank – Alfaro branch released the same certification confirming that the provided account number does not exist.
Previously, SAGIP Partylist Representative Rodante Marcoleta, reported the alleged deposits on offshore accounts linked to the COMELEC Chair. This is in line with the P18 Billion automated election system contract with Miru Systems.
On July 15, Ex-Solon Edgar Erice went to the Commission on Elections to submit documents that connects a poll official to the alleged ‘bribery’ act involving Miru.
"Alam na alam mong nanghuhula dahil nagturo pa ng mga bangko na malapit sa aking tinitirhan. Pero unfortunately, mali sila," COMELEC Chair Garcia said on his X account.
“Huwag kayong mag-alala, ‘yung iba pang accounts vine-verify na natin kung ‘yan ba ay tunay na accounts,” he added.
