by Mary Antalan10 June 2024

Government agencies in the country recited the hymn and pledge of Bagong Pilipinas on Monday, June 10, during flag ceremonies.

In a report by Leth Narciso, government workers from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) sang the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and recited its pledge.

In a separate report from RH Boy Gonzales and Edniel Parrosa, the Manila Police District and Philippine National Police in Camp Crame in Quezon City also sang the hymn and recited the pledge respectively.

Meanwhile, Local Government Units (LGUs) also included the latter during their flag ceremony.

This recital of hymn and pledge was made following the prescription of Malacañang under the Memorandum Circular No. 52 which states that "all national government agencies and instrumentalities, including GOCCs and educational institutions, such as SUCs are hereby directed, and LGUs are hereby encouraged, to integrated the recital of the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn and Pledge in the conduct of weekly flag ceremonies, subject to existing laws, ruled and regulations."

Interviewed during Dos Por Dos on Monday, PCO Usec. Franz Imperial said PCO is currently distributing copies of the hymn and pledge.

"Unti-unting mamememorya ng mga nasa government agencies 'yan. Actually ngayon kapag may event si Pangulo, eh ginagamit na rin talaga natin yang music na 'yan," Imperal said.

"Nabasa niyo naman yung titik ng kanta na sinulat ni Mr. Florante and arranged by Marvin Purido - napakaganda talaga kumbaga pag narinig mo sa umaga talagang mabubuhay yung pagka Pilipino mo," he added

The order was issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 4.

It can be recalled on July 2023 when the Marcos administration unveiled the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership campaign to implement an “all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation.”
