Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. seeks a formal apology from the Canadian Embassy to clear up his issues with the immigration officers, who intercepted him in Canada and led to his premature return to the Philippines.

Azurin said that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has already relayed the apology from the embassy, but has yet to receive any formal letter from them.

He added that he doesn’t know if they will issue an official statement of apology to him.

Moreover, Azurin said that he would appreciate a formal letter from the Canadian Embassy, recognizing that they were indeed at fault for intercepting him at immigration.

DFA earlier confirmed that Azurin was intercepted upon his arrival in Canada, and PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Lieutenant General Rhodel Sermonia was accused of spreading false information about him being held by Canadian immigration in hopes of deporting him back to the Philippines.

But Sermonia denied the accusations and said that Azurin has been fed false stories again to bring his name to the unverified reports of the former PNP chief’s deportation issue.

The PNP Deputy Chief for Administration saidThe PNP Deputy Chief for Administration said he has no reason to do the thing he has been accused of.
