Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen Rodolfo Azurin Jr. pointed Lt.Gen. Rhodel Sermonia as the one behind the spread of false information about him being held in an Immigration in Canada for his deportation back to the Philippines.
According to RH 05 Val Gonzales, Azurin told reporters in a text message that Sermonia was telling "half truths and mostly lies."
Based on the information spread on September 17, the former PNP was held for two days at Canadian Immigration before being escorted back to the Philippines and was detained after he was interrogated about the drug war during the former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
"He had been sending messages about my deportation.. Sorry hindi po ganun nangyari," Azurin said.
He then appealead to current PNP chief PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. to find the truth first, saying that all footprints about spreading lies point to no one other than Sermonia.
Azurin said that he would give a statement to the media at the right time.
Meanwhile, PNP Public Information Officer (PIO) PCol. Jean Fajardo clarified that they have no information about Azurin being held by Canadian Immigration.
