Autopsy report says grade 5 pupil did not die due to teacher's slap – Antipolo police chief

Antipolo Police Chief, Lt.Col. Ryan Manongdo said that the fifth-grade pupil in Antipolo, Rizal, may not have died from the teacher’s slap but due to arteriovenous malfunction (AVM), based on the autopsy result released to them on Wednesday, October 11.

In an interview with DZRH’s Dos Por Dos, Manongdo explained that the doctor told them that the deceased student, Francis Jay Gumikib, has a rare condition in the brain in which his little veins are tangled.

The Antipolo Police chief said that the autopsy showed that Gumikib’s death had no involvement in the teacher’s slap, as it took more than 48 hours from the incident before the latter experienced the symptoms.

When asked if the slapping incident was a major factor in triggering Gumikib’s condition, Manongdo said that it was far from it, per the doctor’s explanation.

With the autopsy result, the Antipolo Police are still convinced that the teacher, Mirasol Quizon, slapped Gumikib based on the statements left by the witnesses.Meanwhile, instead of filing a case of homicide against the teacher, they will file a case against the teacher for violating Section 10 of Republic Act 7610, or the Other Acts of Neglect, Abuse, Cruelty, or Exploitation, and Other Conditions Prejudicial to the Child's Development.
