The House Commitee on Human Rights will summon businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and actress Gretchen Barretto to appear at its next hearing on the disappearance of the 34 missing sabungeros, Manila Representative Benny Abante confirmed on Monday.
Abante said the siblings of whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, along with 18 police officers allegedly implicated in the case, will also be required to attend the probe.
The lawmaker expressed frustration over the manner in which the Philippine National Police (PNP) handled the investigation, noting gaps that must be addressed in the upcoming hearings.
Last month, the families of the missing sabungeros filed murder charges against Ang, Barretto, and several other officials.
All parties named have denied any involvement in the disappearances.
