At least 13 people were injured, including the bus conductor and driver, after a multi-vehicle accident along the southbound lane of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela on Monday night, April 14.
According to initial reports, the bus was traveling at high speed from Angat, Bulacan, heading to Monumento in Caloocan when the driver allegedly lost control and slammed into a closed van and dump truck.
Authorities said the dump truck and the bus were traveling in the same direction. The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. near the fourth lane of the expressway.
The crash severely damaged the front portion of the bus, shattering its windshield.
The bus was carrying 30 people, including the bus conductor and driver.
Rescue teams responded quickly and provided first aid to the injured, while several were brought to nearby hospitals for further treatment. No fatalities have been reported.
Meanwhile, the crash caused heavy traffic in the area, further exacerbated by the ongoing Holy Week exodus as travelers flocked to the provinces.
The bus and dump truck drivers were taken to the police station in Valenzuela and later settled the matter.
Moreover, the bus company said to cover all hospital expenses.
