Former President and now House Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Saturday said she recently met former Vice President Leni Robredo at a social dinner.
In a brief statement, Arroyo said they had a chance to discuss the local politics in Bicol.
"I recently had a social dinner with former Vice President Leni Robredo and mutual friends from Bicol. We chatted about Bicol politics," she said.
The statement was issued after the two were first spotted together in a photo posted by Alita Alon Alon Mercado, the mother of San Pedro, Laguna Mayor Art Mercado, on Facebook last September 6.
In the caption, Mercardo said she had a wonderful night with her “kumadres” namely, Judy, Pearl, Arroyo, and Robredo.
Interviewed during DZRH’s Isyung Pambayan on Sunday, Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said that the latter and Arroyo were both invited by their mutual friend for dinner.
“Sympre, dahil pareho silang medyo kilala, kung kaya’t nagpa-picture ang mga bisita kasama na yung host. Gano’n kasimple, nagkita sa isang pagtitipon at nagpa-picture, parang nagkataon lang,” he said.
Gutierrez said there is no bigger story in Robredo and Arroyo’s meeting.
“Nagkataon lang talaga na nagkasabay sila sa isang social dinner, social event,” he added.
