Actor and Tarlac Provincial Board Member Arron Villaflor became the subject of online discussion after posting about the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu on the night of September 30.
In a now-deleted post, Villaflor expressed his condolences and asked for prayers for those affected by the quake.
"Pray for Cebu and those affected by the earthquake," his message.
The message of Villaflor came with an art card featuring his own photo in a prayer-like pose, which immediately caught the attention of netizens.
Some social media users criticized the inclusion of his image, questioning its appropriateness during a time of crisis.
Others compared it to politicians distributing aid with their names or pictures prominently displayed. Some of the commenters also said the post appeared less sincere because of the self-featured photo.

Meanwhile, some netizens poked fun at the image, likening Villaflor to a saint or even to the fictional character “Santino” from the television drama May Bukas Pa.

Although Villaflor deleted the post shortly after, screenshots had already circulated online, fueling further debate and reactions across social media.
